The Music The
2006 release of Gareth Thomas’ extraordinary debut album ‘The Theory,’
heralds the completion of year and a half long musical journey, which started
out with a guitarist, and left a musician in its wake. On
‘The Theory,’ Gareth combines moody synth scapes, layered guitar harmonies,
and subtle textures, to create dreamy Atmospheric Progressive Rock music.
Comparisons have already been drawn from this music, to influential bands, such
as: ‘Pink Floyd,’ ‘Mike Oldfield,’ and Boston. To
hear preview tracks from the new album, go here. The Man Gareth
was born in 1982 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He lived there until the age of
ten, before returning to Great Britain, to live in South Wales, where his
family originated. He
started playing electric guitar in 1998, following on from six years of
classical piano training. Gareth also started playing fretless bass in late
2003, at around the same time he became interested in Computer Recording
techniques. Gareth
has played in many different bands since the age of eighteen, and currently
plays in an acoustic/jazz covers band called ‘Crowd Around.’ As a
non-musical aside, Gareth also has a degree in Maths and Economics, and
an MSc in Business Economics and Finance. It’s time to Rock! |
